Make-A-Smile’s Board of Trustees met in January, 2017 and considered project proposals that had been submitted for consideration by two states, Louisiana and North Carolina.  Louisiana proposed two sites for consideration that had been devastated by flooding in the summer of 2016.  North Carolina also presented two Hurricane Matthew flood sites that had been ravaged last October.  After on-site visits, it was determined there were communities in both states that could use our assistance.  After careful review and consideration, the Board elected to tackle a project in North Carolina this year, with a plan to move on to a Louisiana project in 2018.

Make-A-Smile volunteers will arrive in Higgins Park in Lumberton North Carolina the first week of October.  That proposed schedule leaves us six months to raise the money and volunteers necessary to make this happen.  Are you willing to help those families who have lost so much?

Please use this website to make project donations through PayPal, or conduct fundraising activities in your community or places of work.  We need many volunteers of all skill levels – from skilled craftsmen to general laborers.  Some will help orchestrate the playground build and other skilled tasks, while others will assist with basic landscaping, passing out water and everything in between.  Our efforts will create a park that will provide a safe and fun place for the children of Lumberton to grow and play.  You can help us put smiles on many children’s faces and create memories that will last the rest of your life…
